About Me
I was born in Omaha and grew up in Kansas City, Tulsa, Seattle, and Chicago. I am still growing up here in downtown Los Angeles, in a loft overlooking the city and mountains.
In 1995 I met Jamaica, the woman of my dreams. We would marry six years later and end up here in Los Angeles where Jamaica is an adjunct professor for a few private and public colleges.
I'm an inoperable idealist with an appetite for discovering and deploying dreams. An entrepreneur at heart, I started my first company at age 14. By the time I got my driver’s license, I launched a publishing company and, by age 19, started a design studio.
In 1998 I started a company that is known today as Personality™, a marketing and communication consultancy. In November 2002 I added another hat, director of communications for the Foursquare denomination.
I serve on several boards including the Center for Church Communication, a non-profit I started in 2005.
I started college right out of high school and finished nine years later (I was too busy starting companies). Graduate school is calling my name. When you have a wife who is starting law school (she already has her M.A.), I can't fall too far behind!
If you're into Donald Clifton's Strengths Finder, my top five are:
- Belief
- Achiever
- Intellection
- Responsibility
- Deliberative
I am the oldest of six pretty cool siblings and the son of parents who are nearing 35 years of marriage.
For what it's worth, I hate talking about myself.
