What I Do

I'm a make-it-happen guy working with big idea people. I design teams and orchestrate strategy so that great ideas I believe in get done. The following is what's keeping me busy these days.

Personality™

Personality™ is a marketing and communication consultancy that works with forward-thinking business and nonprofit leaders. We believe organizations are just like people, they have a personality. Understanding that personality creates a framework for effective decision making and helps to stop wasting money on marketing that doesn’t fit.

I started the company back in 1998 as a design and marketing firm that grew eventually into what it is today.

And yes, I do realize my site looks very similar to the Personality site. I figured since there are only a handful of people who read my blog (hi mom!), no sense in re-inventing the wheel.

Foursquare

I am the assistant vice president and director of communications for the Foursquare denomination. I lead a team of 15 people in the communications department at the central offices located in Los Angeles.

My team is responsible for all web, print and broadcast communications, including the publication of three magazines. We're also an integral part of several events each year, including sponsorships, registration, promotion, experience and technical direction.

Center for Church Communication

The Center for Church Communication offers information, resources and advice as we seek to foster and further the ongoing conversation about church communication.

Although the concept of CFCC is something I have been a part of for years, the organization became official after the unexpected success of our flagship conversation piece, Church Marketing Sucks. Through Church Marketing Sucks and our handful of other projects helping church communicators tell the story better, the conversation is reaching thousands of people every day.
